However, for the hardcore data nerds out there (like ourselves), the full report satisfies that craving for precise numbers and hard evidence that the reviews are legit or bogus. The Preliminary Report is still an excellent tool and perfectly sufficient in almost all cases. They filter dust mite particles which I am highly allergic to. You'll notice that you can't edit the adjusted rating, we might not have looked at every last review and our user sampling isn't perfectly random. These nose filters are great for me to wear wh.en I vacuum. We'd love to run a full report on every product possible, but we had to make a few compromises to get you the preliminary version in under a minute. The instructions say that you can sleep with them on.Our full report will examine much more data, but requires considerably more processing power.Įnter your email to receive a notification when the full report is complete. ![]() Here is my rating for First Defense Nasal Screens, the rating is pulled down by the fact that they are not really reusable, but you can keep them on as long as the adhesive seals correctly. Now that I’ve found the smaller size in Amazon, I think I’m going to order myself another pack. The First Defense Nasal Screens are also latex-free, and the adhesive did not irritate my sensitive skin. Because they filter to such a small particle size and prevent air from sneaking around the filter by virtue of adhering to the outside of your nose, I think these have the most reliable filtration of any of the brands that I tested. I can see that, but they are still better looking than a big mask over your mouth and nose. Another reason these screens are kind of funny looking is that they are skin color, but you stick them over your nostrils, so it looks like you have no nostrils at all! One reviewer on Amazon said that she felt too self-conscious to wear them to work. They definitely are not discrete when they are that much bigger than your nose! (The instructions say to overlap the screens in the middle when that happens, but I didn’t see that before I tried them on) When I had a good seal on them, it felt like having a very stuffy nose when I inhaled because like the WoodyKnows brand, these screens filter to micron size particles (First Defense: 77% at 0.1 micron, 92% at 1 micron, and 99% at 10 microns). ![]() I could tell I had a good seal because you can feel the restriction while breathing through the nose. ![]() I tried to put one screen over each nostril, and part of the screen went down to just above my upper lip. Reviewed in the United States on NovemVerified Purchase I have an extreme sensitivity to grass pollen and just being outside for 5 min I get runny nose and sneezing without the screens. Since I have a small nose and the screens were so large, it was kind of hard to get a good fit with them, but I think I was able to tell enough from my test that I would order them again. Each screen is oval and has a filter in the middle (it makes up the majority of the screen) with an adhesive ring completely around the filter in a band about 1/8″ wide. I didn’t see the medium size when I ordered them, so I ended up with large, and one of them is almost big enough to cover both nostrils ( each Large size screen measures 1 & 1/8″ long by 3/4″ wide). The First Defense Nasal Screens are different from the other brands I reviewed because they do not go inside the nose, instead, they seal over your nostrils kind of like a Bandaid. ![]()
